plowunited.net – Microsoft is rolling out semantic search capabilities to its Copilot app on Windows 11, aiming to simplify how users find files and images. This update lets users search with natural language, allowing queries like “find images of bridges at sunset on my PC” or “find the file with the chicken tostada recipe.” Instead of remembering exact file names or keywords, users can describe what they need, making searches faster and more intuitive.

Currently, this feature is available to Windows Insiders using Copilot+ PCs and requires downloading the latest Copilot app version 1.25082.132.0 or higher from the Microsoft Store. The semantic search supports multiple languages, including English, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Japanese, and Spanish. Previously, Microsoft added semantic search to Windows Search, File Explorer, and the Settings app on Copilot+ PCs. Emphasizing that it runs locally on the device’s Neural Processing Unit without needing an internet connection.

Microsoft assures that none of the user data is sent to external servers or Microsoft itself. Though it is not yet clear if this privacy model applies fully to the Copilot app integration. Users can manage the app’s data access by adjusting settings under Copilot Permissions.

Additional Features and Gradual Rollout for Copilot+ PCs

Alongside semantic search, the latest Copilot app update introduces a redesigned homepage and an enhanced Vision feature. The new homepage offers quick access to recent apps, files, and conversations, pulling file formats like PNG, JPEG, SVG, PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSS, JSON, and TXT from the Windows “Recent” folder. This refresh aims to streamline user workflow by presenting relevant content immediately.

The Vision update adds guided assistance for apps. When users select an app from the “Get guided help” section on the homepage. Vision scans their screen and provides interactive guidance on using the app’s core functions. This tool helps users quickly familiarize themselves with new software or features.

Microsoft notes that these features are gradually rolling out to Copilot+ PC users; therefore, not all Insiders will see the update immediately. As the company refines the experience and gathers user feedback, wider availability is expected. This phased rollout, consequently, allows Microsoft to address potential issues early and optimize performance. Moreover, user insights will shape future updates to ensure the features meet diverse needs effectively.

Looking ahead, these improvements mark Microsoft’s continued push to integrate AI-powered tools directly into Windows 11. By enhancing natural language search and offering contextual help, Microsoft hopes to boost productivity and, ultimately, make computing more accessible for a broader audience.

plowunited.net – Microsoft is updating its Copilot Vision tool to let users share their entire desktop with the AI assistant. Previously, Copilot could only view two apps simultaneously. This new feature allows it to see all open applications at once. It gives users more flexibility by enabling either full desktop sharing or sharing of a single app. Currently, this feature is in beta and available only to Windows Insider program members.

The process to activate full desktop sharing is simple. Users hover over the Copilot icon in the taskbar and click the glasses icon. This opens a menu where they can choose to share the whole desktop or just one specific app. At any time, they can stop sharing by clicking the “Stop” button in the same menu. This interaction mimics a video call screen-sharing experience, but instead of sharing with people, you share with the Copilot AI for instant feedback.

Microsoft explains that Copilot Vision can analyze content, offer insights, and respond to questions in real time. It can help improve creative projects, assist with resume building, and provide guidance during gameplay. Currently, the update is only available in the US and requires the Windows Vision feature to be enabled. It will roll out with Windows 11 version 1.25071.125, starting with beta testers.

What This Means for Windows 11 Users and Future Outlook

This new Copilot Vision update marks a significant expansion of Microsoft’s AI-powered assistant capabilities. Allowing full desktop sharing opens up broader possibilities for how users can interact with AI in their daily workflows. It removes the previous limitation of only viewing a few apps and creates a seamless experience for multitasking and complex problem-solving.

The feature’s availability within the Windows Insider program means Microsoft will gather user feedback before a wider public release. While the company has not specified how long the beta period will last, this phased rollout ensures the technology is stable and reliable.

Earlier versions of Copilot included the Recall feature, which took regular screenshots to provide ongoing AI feedback. Copilot Vision initially focused on Microsoft Edge but has expanded to other apps and now the whole desktop. This continual development shows Microsoft’s commitment to integrating AI deeply into Windows 11.

Overall, this update enhances productivity by allowing users to get AI-powered assistance across all their tasks, not just isolated apps. As Microsoft improves Copilot Vision, users can expect more intelligent and contextual help across their digital workspace in the future. This full desktop sharing feature is a key step towards more intuitive AI-human collaboration on Windows 11.
