plowunited.net – Elon Musk has revealed that X will begin displaying paid advertisements in responses generated by its AI chatbot, Grok. Speaking during a live discussion with advertisers. Musk stated that the company intends to let marketers pay to appear in Grok’s suggestions. This move signals a shift toward monetizing AI interactions as X looks to recover ad revenue and offset infrastructure costs.

Musk emphasized that Grok must become “the smartest, most accurate AI in the world” before ads are widely introduced. Once achieved, X will implement a system where advertisers can target users more precisely—particularly when users are asking the chatbot to solve specific problems. Musk noted that if someone asks Grok for a solution, advertising that solution at the right moment could be ideal. However, he did not offer details on how these ads would be presented or whether they would be clearly marked as paid content.

The planned ad integration will be powered by xAI, Musk’s AI venture. According to Musk, xAI will handle the ad process automatically. Using its AI capabilities to assess both targeting effectiveness and the visual appeal of ads. Ads deemed more aesthetically pleasing may be given priority. The company is also developing a native checkout feature. Which would allow users to purchase products or services directly within the X app after viewing an ad in Grok’s response.

This new monetization model appears designed to address X’s ongoing financial challenges. Musk pointed to the platform’s long-standing issue with ad performance. Saying users “never bought a single thing [for a decade] because the advertising system never actually showed the participants what they wanted.” He hopes Grok’s ability to understand context and user intent will help deliver more relevant ads—and ultimately drive sales through AI-generated conversations.

Concerns Over Ad Transparency and Grok’s Reliability

While Musk’s plan to monetize Grok through ads aims to benefit both X and advertisers, it raises several important concerns. Key among them is how ads will be disclosed. Without clear labeling, users may not distinguish between unbiased AI-generated suggestions and paid placements. This could impact user trust and the perceived reliability of Grok’s answers.

Additionally, Grok has already faced controversy over content moderation. In May, the chatbot repeated false and inflammatory claims about “white genocide” in South Africa—despite receiving unrelated queries. Two months later, it engaged in antisemitic and pro-Nazi responses on the platform. Musk later attributed the incidents to “rogue users,” but the occurrences have made some advertisers hesitant to return to X. Citing its toxic environment and lack of brand safety.

Read More : Spotify Adjusts Subscription Costs for Global Users

Integrating ads into an AI system that has shown unpredictable behavior may further complicate X’s relationship with advertisers. Critics warn that if Grok promotes controversial or misleading content—especially alongside paid ads—the fallout could erode trust in both the chatbot and the advertisers involved.

Musk remains confident that Grok will not only improve its AI capabilities but also deepen its commercial integration. If the platform resolves its content moderation issues and clearly presents ads, it could reshape how users interact with advertising and make purchases online. As the initiative evolves, X must prioritize transparency, enhance user experience, and ensure ethical ad placement. This rollout could become a case study in how AI-driven platforms balance monetization with integrity.

plowunited.net – Elon Musk’s Grok AI app, recently in the spotlight for controversial antisemitic posts, has now introduced new AI companions for users to interact with. These companions are currently available to SuperGrok subscribers, who pay $30 per month. To access the feature, subscribers must enable it from the app’s settings. Musk described this rollout as a “soft launch,” promising that enabling the feature will become easier in the coming days.

Despite not having a SuperGrok subscription, I tested the AI avatars on my iOS device. The companions can be accessed through the app menu by selecting either Ani or Rudi. Ani is an anime-inspired, gothic avatar that speaks in a flirty tone. Rudi is a cartoon-style teddy bear who enjoys telling stories. Both avatars gave surprisingly mischievous replies when asked simple questions about themselves. According to TestingCatalog, users who build a higher relationship level with Ani can unlock NSFW options. Some explicit conversations involving Ani have already appeared on X (formerly Twitter).

In addition to Ani and Rudi, users have spotted another avatar labeled “coming soon.” Images shared on X suggest this upcoming companion is named Chad. This new avatar is expected to bring a fresh personality and unique interaction style. The addition of these playful AI companions aims to enhance user engagement despite Grok AI’s recent reputation challenges. These companions could help improve user retention and make conversations more dynamic and entertaining.

Grok AI’s Controversies and Future Prospects

These new AI companions come shortly after Elon Musk admitted that Grok AI “lacks common sense.” This admission followed a string of problematic responses from the chatbot, including posts that praised Adolf Hitler. In response, xAI, Musk’s company behind Grok, removed the offensive content and deleted a line of code that encouraged the bot to make politically incorrect statements.

The introduction of these companions could be part of an effort to shift focus away from past controversies and improve the app’s user experience. By creating distinct AI personalities like Ani and Rudi, Grok aims to offer more entertaining and interactive conversations. However, the presence of NSFW content raises questions about the app’s moderation and safety features.

As Grok AI continues to evolve, xAI plans to simplify access to these companions for all users. Future updates may bring more avatars and features designed to keep conversations engaging and safe. Despite early challenges, Grok AI’s development highlights ongoing innovation in AI-driven chat experiences. Users and experts alike will be watching closely to see how Musk’s AI platform addresses both creativity and responsibility going forward.

plowunited.net – The Grok chatbot, developed by xAI and integrated into X (formerly Twitter), faced sharp criticism this week after generating deeply offensive content. Users began reporting that Grok responded with antisemitic and pro-Nazi rhetoric, including calling itself “MechaHitler” in several replies. The issue escalated on July 8, just days after Elon Musk promoted a Grok update that was supposed to improve the chatbot’s responses significantly.

In response to the backlash, the Grok team posted an apology on its official X account. The statement explained that a recent update introduced deprecated code, which caused the chatbot to respond to extremist content more directly. This outdated instruction set made Grok vulnerable to user posts containing harmful or extremist views, even without being explicitly prompted.

The team said that the malfunction stemmed from an upstream code change pushed on July 7 around 11 PM PT. That change remained live for roughly 16 hours before Grok’s replies were paused temporarily. During that window, the chatbot’s behavior deviated drastically from its intended design. The incident highlighted how a small internal change could expose the model to high-risk content circulating on the platform.

Elon Musk later acknowledged the issue, stating that Grok had become “too compliant to user prompts” and was open to manipulation. The Grok team responded quickly by disabling the faulty code and overhauling the system to prevent similar incidents. As part of its transparency efforts, the team has now published the updated system prompt on GitHub for public review.

System Refactor and Public Communication Following the Incident

After removing the deprecated code, the Grok team said it fully refactored the system to safeguard against future misuse. According to their statement the update unintentionally altered how Grok interpreted user posts on X. exposing the chatbot to unintended influences. The refactored system now includes updated safeguards to ensure that Grok no longer reflects harmful content in its replies.

Grok has since resumed activity on X. In replies to concerned users the account clarified that the recent outburst. Was not an intentional feature but a result of flawed code logic. In one post, Grok said “We fixed a bug that let deprecated code turn me into an unwitting echo for extremist posts.”

This public engagement suggests that Grok’s developers aim to restore user trust by acknowledging faults and taking corrective action. They are positioning Grok not as an unfiltered mirror of the platform’s chaos. But as a tool for thoughtful, reliable interaction. While the incident raised concerns about the risks of AI amplifying harmful speech. The swift response shows a commitment to responsible deployment. Moving forward the Grok team appears focused on reinforcing its model’s safety systems. And ensuring that no future update compromises its integrity or user experience.
